This cowshed was built in 1856 by Gustaf August Wasastjerna. It had room for 100 cows. Later it has been a cement foundry and a paint factory, horse hospital and an arms cache. It has served as a museum now for 50 years. The latest renovation was done in 2010.

Kyrkösjärvi, Ice is gone
Posted by
JK
Sunny day and some time to go out with that camera. A shot from Kyrkösjärvi. The ice has melted so welcome spring and summer. There was also a guy with a canoe, but didn't get a shot of him.

Water level raises
Posted by
JK
The river Kyrönjoki has a lot of water during spring. If there is a threat of uncontrolled flooding, there is a possibility to open some locks and let the water flood on some fields. As you can see, it's a bit grayish here and it's been raining. That is the excuse for not posting photos for a few days.

Swan field

There is a field in Ilmajoki, not Seinäjoki(but close enough), where swans are resting during their spring migration. I counted over one hundred swans, tens of goose and some cranes.

This is a printing press factory. Among others, the daily newspaper of this provence "Ilkka" is printed here. The bridge seen on the right takes the newspapers directly to a post office that delivers them to the readers.

Itikka factory

JK
Here is a historical view of Seinäjoki. This old meat factory Itikka, nowdays known as Atria, will be demolished this summer. It will be replaced with a new apartment house area. They planned to leave the chimney, but it was in so bad shape it wasn't safe.

Bell

JK
A construction company just bought the property where this bell belongs to. It is near the Seinäjoki Technology Center Frami. I believe it's going to be replaced by some apartment houses in time.
