Altough I'm not an expert in agriculture, this field of barley seems quite ready to be harvested.

These lights are designed by late Alvar Aalto, who was a famous finnish architect. The lamps are standing on the yard of the church "Lakeuden Risti"

Gustaw Adolf Wasastjerna was in time one of the wealthiest men in Finland. The initials in this building point to him. I like the architecture of this little house. I guess this was also a storage of some kind.

Hidden square

This quiet little square is hidden between few apartment houses. It's close to Seinäjoki's central. I believe most of the "Seinäjokians" don't even know it exist. Anyways, nice place.

These two pinkish houses reside in the yard of the östermyra mansion. Among others the local blacksmiths used to live in those in the 1800's.
Problems with ISP

This photo of the Mansion was taken from the other side of the river. From that angle it's almost blocked by the birches.

Lovebridge

JK
This oldish wooden bridge crosses the river at Törnävä. It has been referred as a love bridge. The bridge has wider sections with benches in the center so maybe the love bridge refers to couples sitting on them.

A street view again. On the right you can see the oldest and finest (in my taste) cafe in Seinäjoki. It's called "Pikku Paussi", "Little Pause"

Barns

These barns were used to dry hay in the oldtimes. Now they stand on the fields empty ( or containing scrap). As we have a lot of fields, we also have a lot of barns.

I guess everyone who is interested in ice hockey, came to know that Finland won gold in the world championships. Sweden was beaten 6-1. That one T-shirt represents that victory. This stall sells Finland related textiles.

Tangomarkkinat, Tango living

While in provinssirock people tend to live in tents.
In tagomarkkinat they seem to prefer mobile homes or hotels.

Tangomarkkinat, Tango singing
Posted by
JK
No tango dancing here either. All the dancing seems to go on in the closed areas. However here's some tango singing in the local shopping mall. I'm quite sure the guys singing in the white suit is the winner of the tango contest year 2009, Amadeus Lundberg.

Tangomarkkinat, Tango street main gate
Posted by
JK
Tangomarkkinat, a huge tango festival is going on. It has a tango singing competition, lot of tangoing and some market atmosphere.
This is a quick photo from the Tango street's main gate. Sorry, no tangoing in this photo. Maybe I'll catch some tomorrow. This year the festival was combined with an international Cumbre Mundial del Tango - festival. Tangomarkkinat tends to gather around 100 000 visitors.

Bird's eye, view of the center
Posted by
JK
This photo was taken from the Lakeuden Risti tower. It gives a good view of the center of the city.
In the middle is the marketplace. As it is seen here, Seinäjoki does not have very tall buildings. The reason is that the ground is so muddy that the foundations for the buildings must be very well done if having more than 3 or 4 floors.
