Grain

Altough I'm not an expert in agriculture, this field of barley seems quite ready to be harvested.

Lamps, Alvar Aalto style

These lights are designed by late Alvar Aalto, who was a famous finnish architect. The lamps are standing on the yard of the church "Lakeuden Risti"

G.A.W A.D 1826

Gustaw Adolf Wasastjerna was in time one of the wealthiest men in Finland. The initials in this building point to him. I like the architecture of this little house. I guess this was also a storage of some kind.

Hidden square

This quiet little square is hidden between few apartment houses. It's close to Seinäjoki's central. I believe most of the "Seinäjokians" don't even know it exist. Anyways, nice place.

Wanha markki

This is from an Ostrobotnian country house, which hosts an artists' atelier and a retirement home for animals. It has chickens, turkeys, donkey, horse, pony, rabbits, pigs etc...  Kids love this yard. The place is called the "Wanha markki", "Old yard".

Old storage?

This pretty little house stands in Törnävä, Seinäjoki. I quess it somehow relates to the old mansion but I not even sure what it is. Somekind of storage?

Vauhtiajot

There was another big event in Seinäjoki this weekend. This year I had no chance to take photoes from "Vauhtiajot" the street race & rock event.

Bullfinch houses

These two pinkish houses reside in the yard of the östermyra mansion. Among others the local blacksmiths used to live in those in the 1800's.

Problems with ISP

We had some problems with the Internet Service Provider in this area. I quess the thunder caused some network equipment to broke. So I had no Internet connection all day and because of that, no post yesterday.

More agriculture

These are fodder bales. They contain food (hay) for cattle.

Östermyra Mansion

This photo of the Mansion was taken from the other side of the river. From that angle it's almost blocked by the birches.

Lovebridge

This oldish wooden bridge crosses the river at Törnävä. It has been referred as a love bridge.  The bridge has wider sections with benches in the center so maybe the love bridge refers to couples sitting on them.

Pikku Paussi

A street view again. On the right you can see the oldest and finest (in my taste) cafe in Seinäjoki. It's called "Pikku Paussi", "Little Pause"

Some peas to be sold in the marketplace.

Barns

These barns were used to dry hay in the oldtimes. Now they stand on the fields empty ( or containing scrap). As we have a lot of fields, we also have a lot of barns.

Suomi clothing

I guess everyone who is interested in ice hockey, came to know that Finland won gold in the world championships. Sweden was beaten 6-1. That one T-shirt represents that victory.  This stall sells Finland related textiles.

Waiting for someone

These two benches seem to be waiting for someone to sit on them. If you are near Lakeuden Risti tower they can be found close to it.

This is a typical representative of Finnish dairy cattle.
This cow lives not so far from the center of Seinäjoki

Tangomarkkinat, Tango living

While in provinssirock people tend to live in tents.
In tagomarkkinat they seem to prefer mobile homes or hotels.

Holiday

I'm going to be out of town for a week. Blogger scheduler should publish a photo every day. Let's hope it works.

Tangomarkkinat, Tango singing

No tango dancing here either. All the dancing seems to go on in the closed areas. However here's some tango singing in the local shopping mall. I'm quite sure the guys singing in the white suit is the winner of the tango contest year 2009, Amadeus Lundberg.

Tangomarkkinat, Tango street main gate

Tangomarkkinat, a huge tango festival is going on. It has a tango singing competition, lot of tangoing and some market atmosphere.

This is a quick photo from the Tango street's main gate. Sorry, no tangoing in this photo. Maybe I'll catch some tomorrow. This year the festival was combined with an international Cumbre Mundial del Tango - festival. Tangomarkkinat tends to gather around 100 000 visitors.

A full length golf course can also be found in Seinäjoki. The name of the course is Ruuhikoski.

I quess there was some concert beginnin in a while and they are bringin some audio stuff with the van.

Bird's eye, view of the center

This photo was taken from the Lakeuden Risti tower. It gives a good view of the center of the city.
In the middle is the marketplace. As it is seen here, Seinäjoki does not have very tall buildings. The reason is that the ground is so muddy that the foundations for the buildings must be very well done if having more than 3 or 4 floors.

Kids musical

Seinäjoki had a big lutheran mission conference this weekend. One of the sessions had a Kid's musical with a hundred kids singing an acting on stage. All together the mission had atleast 4000 people.

Boys protecting us

This is a statue somehow related to the wars. It says "Pojat suojelemassa meitä 1941", "Boys protecting us 1941".
