Gray sky and crane

Well here is a photo of a crane. This is a building site near the railway. Not much of a sky, but I will still post it to the Skywatch Friday. Officially autumn starts tomorrow.

Matinkuja Reflection

This is a small bridge crossing the river next to the technology center Frami. The building closest to it belongs to a electronics company called Epec. I don't know any other way to paint that graffiti than from a boat. This is also near my place of work.

Another view of Suojeluskuntatalo

This is the "Civil Guard House" in the center of Seinäjoki. I've posted one photo of it before. It holds a museum of Lotta Svärd organization. Wikipedia article about Lotta Svärd and Suojeluskunta.

Taxi queue

I don't know how this should be interpreted....two festival toilets and a taxi sign. Do you have to wait for taxi that long? Well, the truth is that this is from the parking lot of the new hospital extension and I guess the toilets are for the time of construction.

Bitten

Who has bitten this apple? Apples are beginning to be ripe.

Field Signs

This field signs can be seen from a bird watching tower. Hmm...maybe they are not done by aliens.

Rowan berries

This lazy photographer only walked out and took a photo of these rowan berries.

Dark clouds approaching

This is again from Hirvijärvi. Some dark clouds approaching...and it started raining. If I would turn around at this place the sky is all dark.

Birds on a wire ... well not anymore.

These birds were sitting on these electrical wire side by side. I tried to approach, but you can see what happened in the second photo. I didn't even get to see what birds they are. I'm not an ornithologist, so I can't recognize birds only by their silhouette. If someone can, please educate me.

View from the library window

When people visit the new library, this is one of the places where they can take a book and relax reading it. I think the view is very nice.

Time for some more street construction

This is Kalevankatu, "Kaleva street". The street is going to be reconstructed to be a pedestrian oriented street. This work has already began earlier in another section of the street and now it's time to continue. It will probably look something like this. I'll try to post a photo regularly from this same spot, so we can see how it progresses.

Grand opening

This is the day of the grand opening. The new long awaited library is finally open to the public. This is the main entrance. The building is called "Apila" as "The Clover". I believe you can see in this earlier photo why is that. I believe it was worth the waiting.  I only had a chance to pay a quick visit, but it sure looks nice.

As a bonus, here is a view from inside. These are the "reading stairs", where you can sit and read. As you can see the interior has a huge contrast between the white walls and the concrete ceiling. I'll post more detailed indoor shots later.

Everything seemed to be very modern. The borrowing and returining of books was self-serviced. That should leave the library clerks more time to guide the customers and advice them about the books. There is also a cafeteria, a large childrens section with a playroom and also some reading "foxholes" for the youth.

Playground mirror

This is a reflection of Seurahuone seen from one of the funny mirrors in a playground next to it. This is my first post linked to Weekend Reflection site. I'm sorry for the bad quality. I only had my cellphone with me and it has a crappy camera in it.

Campfire Sausage

People sometimes post images of food. Well I tought I'd post one too. This is from a Paukaneva recreation ground. There is a lean-to called Lehtisalo. We had a campfire and ate some sausage.

Hirvijärvi colorful sky

This is a view from the shore of the lake Hirvijärvi. Hirvijärvi is one of the artificial lakes in the area of Seinäjoki. It is not a common image as the trees are dark and the sky is clear. That was the purpose...to emphasize the sky and the lake. This is my first linking to the Skywatch Friday blog.

Need a new car?

You can buy one from Seinäjoki. We have a lot of car dealers here. In the photo we have some Fords, but you can find almost any brand. And ofcourse you can find a large selection of used cars also.

Rusting house

This is Frami F. The next extension to the Seinäjoki University of Applied Science. The business teaching will take place here. The architecture is a bit exceptional. The material installed on the surface will start rusting immediately...in purpose.

Seinäjoki hall

This is the outside of an auditorium called Seinäjoki-sali, Seinäjoki hall.  It is a music hall and a meeting space for 360 people. When it was built the acoustics were taken into account. I think it sounds ok, but I don't really know what professional musicians and listeners think of it.

It's located by the river and near the center of the city. The area is thought to be the campus area of Seinäjoki. A lot of students live in the neighbourhood and the Seinäjoki University of Applied Science is across the river.
