Air traffic

We are staying on the aviation subject. Seinäjoki has an airport. It's in the area of the neighbouring municipality Ilmajoki. This is an AIS Airlines Jetstream 32 operating for Direktflyg, a swedish air carrier.  It is coming from Helsinki. I waited a few minutes and saw one passenger come out of this plane.

There are three flights to Helsinki a day from this airport. It has been discussed a LOT, if there should be a flight route from Seinäjoki to Helsinki. Some say there must, many say there must not. This route is supported by the City of Seinäjoki with a huge amount of money.

Also some bigger planes fly out from this airport to Beach Resorts in Cyprus, Canary Islands and Malaga. Maybe I'll get a pic of a bigger plane some day.

You can take a balloon flight

I didn't even know that you can take a hot air balloon flight here. But yes you can. I witnessed this balloon leave today and it came to my knowledge that you can buy a ticket to a flight like this. If I understand correctly the next flights from Seinäjoki will happen in 17th and 18th of this moth. You can read more from here(in finnish).

Going to Oulu

This is a finnish Pendolino train. It has left from Seinäjoki and I believe it's going to Oulu. This is an Italian train that has a maximum speed of 220 km/h. There has been a lot of problems with this train type. Especially in winter.

Train from Vaasa

This train is coming from Vaasa. I'm not sure if it's late or not. These older trains tend to be on time.

Late train

Finnish railways VR has lately (few years) been infamous for being late all the time. This "bullet train" from Helsinki to Oulu was only half an hour late due to technical problems.

Old Plane leaving

The same plane as yesterday. Now it's leaving. I know that I could have started with some street views of Seinäjoki, but the streets tend to stay put, as the plane was here only few days.

The first photo: Old Airplane

This is the first photo posted on this blog. It's an oldschool airplane. No, people don't really use this kind of planes as public transport in Finland. It's a plane owned by an association keeping old airplanes. They were flying aviation orientated people over Seinäjoki yesterday.

I somehow managed to be at the airport at the right time. The plain was just going to leave. There were people watching and wondering how would the staff start the engines. They didn't have to rotate the propeller by hand, it had a start engine...the smoke was thick when the engines started one by one.

I wonder, if this plane is like 70 years old...how old must the pilot be.

This is the homepage of the association that owns the plane:
