Huge demolition

This is the biggest demolition site in the history of Seinäjoki. The old Itikka meat factory is being demolished. A large compex of homes and business buildings will be built there. The whole site shoud be dismantled by the end of this year. I think it is funny that the demolition company's name is "Delete".

Here is the factory in it's "glory" before the demolition started. Here you can get some idea about what will be built in the area. (The red buildings in the center of the image).

  1. It's tempting as a site for a bit of "urban exploration." Then again, if it's not safe, that's probably not a good idea. I wonder if any of the materials will be reused or recycled.

  2. That is a huge project. I wonder if they will recycle the bricks. Usually when that happens here in the US, recycled material will end up in habitat for humanity reused stores so people who need them can purchase and the money stays in the program.

  3. It was written in the local newspaper that the demolition company will recycle as much as possible. The concrete and brick materials will be crushed and used in the foundation of the new area. Chipboards and wool will be taken to some recycling center and the clean wood material will be used in local construction sites. Some gluelam baulks will be sold to people who need them.
